Gloomy conditions over Clamper festivities on Saturday
DOWNIEVILLE — Last Friday, it looked to be another hot August weekend for the annual Doins’ of E Clampus Vitus (ECV) 1849. However, an unusual summer drenching on Saturday made this year’s a much cooler and wetter affair. That didn’t do much to dampen the mood of the 200 or so Clampers (ECV members) who gathered to enjoy the camaraderie. All of the hawkers lined the streets selling various red & black t-shirts, but the hot item to sell on Saturday was the hoodie.

Despite the weather that no doubt diminished this year’s numbers, a good time was had by all, and as usual, the streets of Downieville were left cleaner than when they came. Satisfactory.
