TRUCKEE — Firefighters from the Cal Fire Nevada-Yuba-Placer unit assisted the Truckee Fire Department with an escaped debris burn on Donner Lake Road. Homeowners lost control of a burn pile on Monday afternoon.

Cal Fire posted details of the joint response to the incident, reminding residents of proper procedures for safe debris burning. “It’s important if you’re going to burn, 1. Ensure it is a permissive burn day and 2. Stay with your fire with the appropriate tools at hand.”
