She grew up in Ripon, California, and attended college in Santa Barbara and Sacramento. She met Jack Stewart on a blind date, and that was the beginning of their love story. They were married on September 4, 1965. It can be said that they adored and aggravated each other in nearly equal measure. Their marriage represented a good example of patience and kindness, especially when their health challenges arose later in life. Jack died in 2021, and Cathy dearly missed him. She was born to Joseph and Rena LaBarbera in Oakland, California on December 29th, 1934. Carol is preceded in death by both her parents and two siblings, Joan and Ronald.Carol was the partner and wife of Gary Webster, also deceased. Together, they owned and operated the Buckhorn Lodge in Sierra City, California, for more than 40 years. After retirement, Carol moved to Cedar Ridge, California, and then spent the last years of her life in Pilot Hill, California, living with her youngest son and wife.Carol Webster has four surviving children: Judy Coyle, Jim Northey, Kathleen Gutzke, and Erick Northey. She also has 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful, warm, and witty person and is greatly missed by her family and friends. The second of seven siblings and the only boy, Tim was raised in Farmersville, Illinois, where, as the name suggests, he spent his childhood helping his family on the farm where they grew corn and soybeans; he raised pigs and chickens and even had a pony. Tim had a passion for motorcycles, music, and fixing things from early on; rumor has it that it was the sale of a motorcycle that funded his way to technical school in Louisville, Kentucky, where he earned an associate’s degree. 1946 — 2024Charles Taber Whittlesey, age 77, of the San Juan Ridge, passed away on January 8th, 2024. He was born in southern California on May 9th, 1946. Charles moved to the North San Juan area as a young child. During his childhood, he was a student at both Colombia Hill School and Nevada City Elementary. Charles graduated from Nevada Union High School in 1965. He continued his education at the college level throughout his life.Charlie worked in the timber industry, both in the mills and as a timber faller. Some of the locals knew him as the Wildman Barefoot Faller. He married Sherry Skolfield in an impromptu ceremony on a float at the North San Juan Cherry Festival in 2014.
